The shores of San José, Costa Rica are the hitter’s eye to one of the most tropical baseball experiences fans can enjoy. Fresh coconut water vendors walk through the bleachers with their machetes and straws in hand. Not feeling the action on the field? No problem. Fans are welcome to rent hammocks tied to palm trees scattered behind the outfield fence. Fresh fish tacos are sold throughout the stadium with specials depending on the day’s catch brought in by local fishermen. The Slow Rollers pitching staff have made it a point to pitch to contact as they have only walked two batters in five years. No pitcher throws over 85mph or features a fastball as their primary pitch. Ironically, the Slow Rollers have led the league in stolen bases in each of their years of existence.
